Built in 1843, the Richard Ashbridge Mansion (once known as Indian Farm Run), located off of Route 30 in Exton, has been through lots of wear and tear over the course of the last 20 years...
Timeliness and property preservation can be a huge factor in the success of a construction project. Using shrink wrap for containment of scaffolding enables the continued progress of the project through unfavorable weather by enclosing the scaffolding. An example of this is the scaffolding containment job we completed during a construction project at Ursinus College. The aim of this shrink wrap job was to cover the walkway on the preexisting scaffold supplied by the construction crew.
When access to the inside of an enclosure (like your shrink-wrapped boat) or through a plastic wall is necessary, our zipper access doors are a perfect solution. They work well for both construction and temporary access needs. Not only do they provide access to tight spaces, they also allow for ventilation and are reusable.
We're breaking down the step-by-step process of how to install a zipper access door today. Before you start, you'll want to gather your supplies.
You'll need a zipper access door, heat shrink tape, and a knife. For ease, we've bundled our zipper access doors with our heat shrink tape into our Zipper Access Door Kit.
Keep in mind that the opening you'll create with the zipper access door is about a foot less space (in each direction) of the door size you select. Smaller hatches which provide ventilation and access through the wrap work in tight spaces, but in general, the bigger the door, the easier it is to get in and out of your wrap. If our stock-sized doors aren't what you're looking for, take a look at our Custom Sized Zipper Doors and let us know if we can get you a quote on the size that will best suit your project.
Now, let's get into the how to install a Zipper Access Door:
- Tape the access door to your shrink-wrapped structure.
- Now, zip
open the door and roll the door section up, taping it to secure it and move it out of the way. - Now, using your shrink wrap knife, cut an opening in the shrink wrap, underneath the zipper door.
Once your opening is cut, you're all set! We also have a video breaking down the step by step, to make this process even easier:

Some boat wrap projects can be trickier than others. For example, what do you do when you have large antennae or radar equipment sticking out from the top and sides of a boat?
As you gear up for the cold months ahead, you might encounter the problem of how to get your yard and outdoor furniture ready for winter. The colder months bring rain, snow, and harsh temperatures, all of which can lead to major damage to your outdoor goods...
Today we're taking a look at a video we created for our How to Shrink Wrap Your Boat series, focused on installing a perimeter strap.
