3857 view(s) While there are many options for removing paint from a surface, using an electric heat gun is one of the most efficient.
The idea here is that you apply heat to the paint to soften the layers and then simply peel or scrape the unwanted paint away! Magic! (or perhaps, science...either way it is still cool and very easy)!
Electric heat guns are ideal when wanting to remove paint from the following surfaces:
Heat guns can be used in indoor and outdoor applications. There are a few key safety precautions that should be taken before using an electric heat gun to remove paint.
Before starting any project where a heat gun will be used, be sure to dress appropriately. This will include but is not limited to, closed-toed shoes, long sleeve shirt, long pants, gloves, and protective eyewear.
Mr. Shrinkwrap recommends using welding-style gloves. We offer several appropriate options here!
If you think there is any possibility that the paint you are removing could have lead in it be sure to wear a respirator to protect your lungs. Even if the paint does not have lead in it Mr. Shrinkwrap highly recommends wearing a face mask or covering so you do not breathe in paint fumes.
When using an electric heat gun be sure to allow time for the heat gun to heat up prior to starting and then of course allow a reasonable amount of time for the heat gun to cool off before putting it away.
Be sure to be mindful of any exposed skin and never point a heat gun at yourself or anyone else.
