12 Mil FR Husky Brand Heat Shrink Wrap is typically used to wrap damaged roofs or installed in construction applications where fire prevention safety protocols are enforced. When compared to 7 Mil shrink wrap, 12 Mil is 71.4% percent thicker, which means 12 Mil can withstand MUCH more stress and abuse than its 7 Mil counterpart. On top of being more puncture resistant, thicker films can take more sustained heat while shrinking before a blowout occurs, which provides a greater ease of installation for the installer. Flame Retardant (FR) films have additives that make the film much less likely to carry a flame. The FR additives also make the film slightly softer to the touch. Thicker films are necessary for heavy-duty applications or long-distance road transportation. 12 Mil FR films are the most common films used for applications involving buildings and structures.
